Zarathustra is Nietzsche more than a poetic figure: it is an involuntary confession. Even Nietzsche, who was lost in the darkness of a life that had strayed from God and Christianity, so approached the detector, the one that lights up, the source speaker della sua anima. Di là proviene il linguaggio ieratico di Zarathustra, corrisponde allo stile di quell'archetipo. Nel farne l'esperienza l'uomo moderno fa l'esperienza del primigenio modo di pensare come un'attività autonoma di cui egli è l'oggetto. Ermete Trismegisto o il Thoth della letteratura ermetica Orfeo, il Poimandres e il pastore di Erma (pastore di uomini) a quest'ultimo apparentato sono altre formulazioni della stessa esperienza. Se il nome "Lucifero" non fosse già compromesso, ben si adatterebbe a questo archetipo che mi sono perciò limitato a indicare come "l'archetipo del Vecchio Saggio", o del "Significato". Come tutti gli archetipi anche questo ha un significato positivo e uno negativo...
